“You can’t set up here!”
The words hit us like a wave crashing against the rocks. We had arrived early, to Sails Restaurant, Trinidad, ready to bring Ryan’s vision to life. However, we were destined to meet with an unexpected roadblock. Permission to use the planned area along the waterfront hadn’t been granted. A knot of anxiety tightened in our stomachs as we exchanged glances. The restaurant was packed, it was Valentine’s Day after all! Moreover, alternative locations were either also booked or unsuitable. Bewildered, we looked at each other, Christina and Ryan’s dinner reservation already in place, time was slipping through our fingers.
The Deck, the Deadline, and a Race Against Time
Kerri immediately sprang into action, speaking with the restaurant manager, hoping for a solution. After a few tense moments and heartfelt negotiation, a compromise was struck. Our team would be allowed to set up on the deck, an intimate spot overlooking the ocean. The catch? We couldn’t begin until 6:45 pm. As a result, we’d have just 30 minutes to execute perfection before Christina and Ryan arrived at 7:15 p.m.
Therefore, with no time to waste, we rushed to the parking lot, transforming our parking space into a makeshift prep station. Every detail was pre-arranged; first the floral arrangements, then the candles and lastly the stands. We set everything, so that once we got the green light, we could work like a well-oiled machine. As the clock hit 6:45 p.m., we moved with purpose. We quickly placed the glowing ‘Marry Me’ marquee letters, floating candles, an elegant red carpet, and golden candle towers. Every second counted, and by some miracle, our team finished with five minutes to spare.
An Oceanfront Backdrop, Flickering Candles & Forever Love
As Ryan led Chrissy towards what she thought was a simple Valentine’s dinner, her steps slowed, her breath hitched. Her eyes widened as she took in the dreamlike scene before her. Overwhelmed, she brought her hands to her face, brushing away tears of joy. The moment was intimate, breathtaking, and filled with a love so tangible, it could be felt in the ocean breeze.
Ryan dropped to one knee, his voice steady but filled with emotion. And with a glowing backdrop of flickering candlelight and the endless sea, Chrissy said yes.
As we packed up, Ryan couldn’t thank us enough—not just for the setup but for handling the unexpected hurdles with professionalism and grace. In the end, love always finds a way. And on that magical Valentine’s night, it found its way to Chrissy and Ryan in the most breathtaking way possible.
