You can truly be present with her and appreciate each other’s company. In light of International Picnic Week starting on the 16th of June and running until the 25th, we thought we’d do a rundown on how to plan the perfect picnic in Trinidad and Tobago. We’ve got a whole bunch of outdoor picnic ideas all the way from food suggestions to what you need to remember to bring along with you!
Things you will need when planning the perfect picnic…
When planning the perfect picnic it can be easy to forget the essential items, which is why we have come up with this detailed checklist so that it won’t happen to you:
- Picnic basket – First and foremost, you need something to pack the food and drinks into.
- Picnic blanket – Another necessity in our opinion is a picnic blanket. They can be a bit bulky but it’s worth having one just in case the ground is a bit damp, plus it’s a lot comfier to sit on. While you’re at it pack a few throw pillows to make it more deluxe.
- Plates, utensils, napkins and cups – While you can eat most picnic food with your hands, plates and utensils are good to have and make things easier. And obviously, you need a couple of cups or glasses for the drinks.
- Fun picnic games to play together. The Picnic-Perfect Fun Activity Book is a favourite among our clients!
- Cooler– It’s important to bring along some sort of cooler if you have any food or drinks that need to stay cold.
- Plastic bags – Don’t be a litterbug. Take along a plastic bag to put all your rubbish into afterwards.
- Lastly if it’s a special occasion add a sentimental card to let her know just how you feel.
Picnic Eats
Without a doubt, the quintessential picnic food is sandwiches! Whether it’s a cheese sandwich or a chicken sandwich the possibilities are endless. Be sure to avoid adding really soggy fillings (because nobody wants a soggy sandwich). Sushi, quiches and salads are also great choices. Be sure to add a few sweet treats that she would love such as cookies and chocolates.
Finding the Perfect Picnic location
Now that you’ve sorted out all that is required for the picnic, all that’s left to do is find the perfect picnic location. No pressure! Here are a few things you might want to consider when choosing the perfect venue:
- Pick somewhere that is quiet and shaded. The last thing you want when you’re trying to have a relaxing romantic picnic is to be surrounded by other groups of noisy people.
- Appreciate nature. Typically, you should be looking for a well-manicured grassy area with to have your picnic. The sun can get pretty hot so look for an area with shady trees.
- Choose somewhere that isn’t too windy. A bit of a tricky one but the worst thing that could happen is your picnic blanket blowing all over and the wind knocking over your food and drinks. This is probably the main reason we opt for evening or night picnics in Trinidad as it’s definitely less windy.
That’s it; we’ve covered pretty much covered everything you need to know when it comes to planning the perfect picnic. If you feel the perfect surprise gift for her would be a romantic picnic, don’t worry, we’re here to help!
